Presenting a live mix of their ongoing project, French Family Fun, plus recent material recorded in the Cistern at Fort Warden State Park in Port, Townesend, WA., Jp Jenkins and Bryan Eubanks will sonically occupy the Chapel space for a few hours with the aforementioned collaboration and solo pieces.

Gift Tapes presents a special night of outsider electronic music, featuring Matt Carlson and RM Francis. Portland-based Matt Carlson (Golden Retriever, formerly of Parenthetical Girls) will perform a set of modular synthesizer music. Carlson’s very unique and warped, cartoon-like sensibility places classic analog synthesis amidst far-out video game soundworlds. His recent release for Gift Tapes, Gecko Dream Levels, has managed to turn the heads of quite a few contemporaries (look for upcoming review in the June issue of The Wire). Opening the performance, Seattle-based RM Francis will perform new electronic works and real-time compositions for computer. Through live manipulation and time-stretching, Francis exposes the hidden artifacts of digitally generated sound, while crafting immersive environments of beauty and unpredictability. We are extremely happy to present his solo debut, having become acquainted with his work earlier in the year at prior GT events. Join us for a fresh perspective on contemporary underground electronic music.

The Seattle Occultural Music Festival is a unique, community-based festival that celebrates new & experimental music in the Pacific Northwest of psychic, ecological, or otherwise deeply resonant importance. Our diverse programs incorporate performers and composers spanning the region’s breadth of genres and musical generations, consistently mixing established artists, new talent, and influence not from the immediate Seattle area. Tonight’s concert includes Anacortes rockers Mt. Eerie, Milton goth-folk druids Novemthree, and the droney mash of Paintings for Animals + noisepoetnobody.
Two oddities this time around: I mentioned earlier why the Gramophone Company of India didn’t take kindly to Polydor releasing the soundtrack to ‘The Train’, and how they responded by putting out an EP of cover versions.
