If their goal scoring problems continue then no. They’re currently last in the league in the goal scoring category. Their players have finally began to heat up (specifically Boyes, McDonald, Perron, Oshie) but they rely on their defense and their goal tenders a lot. Which explains why most of their losses are 1 or 2 goal losses.
But this team had the best record in the NHL during the regular season during the second half. There’s no reason why this team can’t make the playoffs. But they have to make sure that during playoffs, unlike last year and this year’s woes, their offense is clicking. As I said they rely too much on defense and goalies and need to come together as a group and produce a lot of goals in playoffs in order to go for a run for the Cup.
I don’t buy the Blues as a playoff team. Currently, they sit 4th in their division, which is one of the toughest this year. Chicago, Nashville, and Detroit are all ahead of this team. Currently, Detroit wouldn’t be in the playoffs if the postseason started tomorrow.
Second, the Blues have only scored 93 goals through 36 games, which averages about 2.58 goals per game. That’s just not enough to really make a strong push in the “new” NHL. The leading goal scorer for this team currently has 10 goals (David Perron).
Third, they have a losing record at home. That’s never a good stat to have, especially if you want to make a serious push for the postseason.
Fourth, the starting goalies (Chris Mason) is 10-10-4. A record of .500 is not a playoff goalie mark.
Realistically, considering how competitive their conference and the West are, the Blues are going to need a serious turn of favor in order to make a deep push. Looking ahead to March, one of the most important months for a playoff push, the only “easy” games are against the Islanders, the Blue Jackets, and the Oilers. Balance that against Phoenix, Dallas, Colorado (twice), Minnesota, the Rangers, New Jersey, Nashville, Detroit, L.A., and Chicago. That’s 14 games in 31 days against quality opponents. I don’t see it happening.
If you guys can keep Detroit out of the playoffs this year, then I will have a very wicked grin. Keep on winning St. Louis!
If you guys play the Guppies (The Sharks) first round, then your team might make it to the next round.
You mean like how they “won” it last year? Not legitimately. But if they’re lucky enough, I know they’ll be able to do it. That is if the refs don’t catch all the cross- checking and slashing. And where were you last year, because evidently you didn’t watch a lick of last season.
They’re gonna make a run for the playoffs, but they’re not gonna win the Stanley Cup.
Are elephants going to take over the world and have sex with cars? Not impossible, but unlikely.
if they can knock out Chicago or Detroit, then they can definetley make a run.
They can make a run. Why not? Stanley Cup, no.
NO they won’t even make the playoffs
HA. blues. wow just wow. hell no, devils will
Give it a few more years
My Canucks will again sweep the Blues
nope, they will get eliminated in the 1st or 2nd round….
