Blues Slide Guitar Tip And Techniques?

I just bought myself a ‘Blues Bottle” slide and I’ve been playing around with it.
Can any slide player give me some tips?
What’s the deal with the open D&G tuning for slide? Can I use the standard tuning?

    You can use open or altered tunings. The main thing to watch for is to always hold the slide either directly above the fret, or slight sharp with vibrato. In open tunings, multple strings can be played simultaneously, allowing whole chords to be slid up and down. Have fun, and experiment, then listen to a real expert like Derek Trucks.
