I received a classical guitar from a friend, and knowing nothing about guitars, I went to the store and bought some acoustic guitar strings. I bought them because I didn’t know that there was a difference. I strung them on, and tuned them, but now I’m realizing I was probably supposed to buy nylon strings.
My question to you is, can I use these strings and not wreck the guitar? It sounds fine enough, and I’m just beginning so it doesn’t have to be perfect. Thanks!

One Response to “Can I String A Classical Guitar With Acoustic Strings?”

  1. Marko R says:

The wood on a classical guitar is usually more flimsy and hollow than a normal acoustic guitar. If I were you I would take those strings off and replace them with nylon strings because it could put serious strain on the body and neck of that guitar making it go out of tune often and really messing with the sound.
