The HOB is downtown and it is a walk just under 2 miles. A taxi depending on the time of day and traffic could cost you $5-10. A walk can be done in about 30 minutes. Train charges are different based on where you are going. The farther you travel the more it costs.
It is about 1.5 miles from the train station, definitely walkable if it is a nice day, neighborhood is really nice, full of good night life, bars, restaurants
It would only be about a 10 dollar cab ride to get there.
The cost of the train would depend on where you are coming in from. If you are going on a weekend, then just get a weekend pass, they are 5 dollars a person and valid all weekend. If going on a weekday, then generally it is between 6 to 12 dollars round trip per person
The House of Blues is in River North so everything around it for a good mile in any direction (except east where you’ll be in the lake) is fine 24 hours a day.
The rest depends on where you live.
The main train station is Union Station which services almost every suburb except a few south burbs & north/west Indiana. Those trains will either take you to Millennium Park (Michigan/Randolph) or to the LaSalle Street Station in the South Loop. On the Metra the fare one way could cost as little as $2 or as much as $7…weekend passes for unlimited rides are only $5.
On the other hand if you live anywhere near the CTA one way is only $2 and there is no main train station…you should get off at State & Lake for most trains except the Blue Line which is Clark & Lake.
The House of Blues is located at Dearborn & Kinzie just north of the Chicago River right under the Marina City Towers.
If I were you I would figure out which Metra line is near you then check the schedule:
Metra Chicagoland – http://metrarail.com/
Northwest Indiana – http://www.nictd.com/
CTA – http://yourcta.com/
If you go into Millennium Park’s station or any CTA train you can just walk to the HOB. Otherwise all of the other train stations are less than $10 in a cab including tip.
