I never understood how metal and wires can hold information on a hard drive.. Can everything hold information?? How do the hard drives work??

It’s actually quite simple in theory. Your standard hard drive is comprised of metal discs. The metal is an iron compound that can be magnetized. If a certain part of the disc is magnetized, it’s a 1. If not, it’s a 0. Then a magnetic head just brushes over it reading and writing the data.
