I think I might be tone deaf. I always have had some instrument in the house but I can’t play any of them. I just bang on them and they make sounds that scare away the mice.
I really want to learn to play music. How do I learn?
As the liner notes to Captain Fantastic said, Elton originally tried to play piano by ear but he soon learned to play with his fingers.
Many good musicians can’t read music, but being tone deaf is a major obstacle.
However, don’t let that stop you just keep going. Anything worth doing is worth doing badly (by that I mean it IS worth doing even if you aren’t very good – and eventually you will get better).
The book ‘This is Your Brain on Music’ describes in detail that talent isn’t all it’s cracked up to be – it’s mostly about getting your 10,000 hours of practice in.
If you want to play piano and don’t want to learn how to read the sheets, just go to tabnabber.com they have a bunch of songs you can play. They also tell you the basics, like octaves and keys. You can also play the piano on this, http://www.cmagics.com/beta/piano/ if you dont have one. Its not like an actual piano but its still fun to play with. OR you could buy a electric piano from amazon.com for like 100 – 200 USD.
Honestly man I play drums ,guitar, and bass and it took me along time to acquire those skills. I cant read a bit of sheet music or anything like that. I had to learn by ear. So my advice to you is to listen to something you really really like and pick out an instrument and learn it. a really easy way i think to learn guitar or songs on guitar you like is a program called guitar pro. you can also learn any other instrument on it to. it has a guitar neck that shows you where the notes are being played and you can slow it down to your speed so you can get used to it. its truly amazing. a bit hard t understand at first. but once you get used to it it will help you a lot. or hell even go to Ultimateguitar.com. they have tabs of all kinds you can learn for guitar,bass,drums, and so on. just start out with something easy though. don’t worry about the solos right away because you have to get your hands used to things first. your muscles in your hands are going to hurt if your playing guitar but that’s a good thing because your building them

depends on wat insturment really. but u can teach urself like i did by getting learning material from music stores. u just have to remember its not that hard and u can do it. u jusy HAVE to do it.
