I’ve been playing for 3 years now and have gotten the hang of guitar down. However I have ignored many songs tuned in drop D and I’m tired of this. I know it is simple. Don’t you just tune the last string one step lower?
Thanks in advance
You are absolutely right. Tune the last string (the low E) down one full step so it matches the fourth string (Also a D) There are many variations on this tuning, but that is the simplest. It just gives you access to that one additional Bass note, although you have to shift all of your fingerings up two frets afterward. It’s not bad once you get used to it and it is fairly easy to retune afterwards. Just match the sixth string back up with the first one.

Yep, you “drop” the low E down to D. Some people drop both E strings, but usually it’s just the low E.
