    Hi thespartanjohnson,
As far as I am understanded, You only have music in your iPod, not in your iTunes.
you need backup your iPod song to computer first. Then adds to your iTunes from computer.
Just get the software you need from here:http://www.ipod-to-computer.net/ipod-to-…
    Hope it can help you.

itunes blocks this function since itunes is the tool with one way to transfer files from itune to ipod. you must utilize other tools to achieve that. There’re couple of tools for transferring the files between ipod and computer (for backup)depends on your demands, e.g transfer only songs/videos, transfer photos etc. You can have a look of below review site, hope it useful.

The most convenient and secure way is to use an iPod transfer program to help you, like this handy one called Tansee iPod Transferhttp://www.gutensoft.com/Utilities/Tanse…
Many of my friends are using it for its easy and safe transfer. The whole process goes as follows:
Firstly install this program on your computer. When you plug your iPod to the computer, this program will instantly display all songs and videos on the iPod.You simply select what you wish to transfer and click “Copy” button. Done. All your selected files will be copied to your computer safely. Now you can easily add those songs and videos to your iTunes library. See detailed guide.
More importantly, this won’t overwrite any original files on your iPod. And all song names are preserved.
Here is step-by-step guide on the whole process:http://gutensoft.com/Guide/How-to-transf…
    Best luck!

Just connect the iPod into the computer and open iTunes.
Look for the Device in the left hand pane and click it. It should say to transfer the purchased music and choose TRANSFER.
If that doesn’t work, then in iTunes, click file, then Library.
The click import folder. Then what your going to do is find the iTunes library in the music folder of your Windows Explorer.

Here is an easy way many of my friends use. That is to use this iPod to iTunes transfer programhttp://ipod-tool.com/ipod-software/jobos…
It was designed to help transfer music, videos, photos, playlists, podcasts and more from iPod to computer and iTunes. So you can use it to transfer music from your iPod back to your iTunes in a direct way. Then all files are on your iTunes, and you can sync smoothly without deleting any files.
This is easy and quick. I recommend you use it.
