   Comtemporary is sort of like lyrical. The movements are free and loose, and usually the music is slower. Jumps and kicks are more abstract. Jazz tends to be faster, with stricter moves and more of an emphasis on technique, and the jumps and kicks are more traditional.

   Contemparary is very free, and maybe flexible. They do like almost graceful body things. They may jump. Jazz I personally don’t think is anythings alike. I have seen a jazz dancer doing a split, but thats just me.

   well jazz is more upbeat and faster, while contemporary is more modern and abstract. Jazz can at times resemble hip hop, while contemporary is completely different. JAzz can also have a broadway-like feel to it while contemporary is more calm
