I’ve been playing acoustic guitar for a little while now and I now want to learn blues style guitar . Problem is I don’t know any blues guitarists, or music because I’ve been listening to hip-hop, r’n'b most of my life although lately I’ve begun listening to almost any type of contemporary music. Can anyone please help me here? Thanks
btw is Sheryl Crow’s music linked to blues?
Yes, some of Sheryl Crow’s music is blues-based, especially her first hit. That was quite reminiscent of the Jazz Crusaders, or Crusaders with its easygoing rhythms and keyboard.
There are a myriad of blues players in the acoustic style. If you want to hear samples of good acoustic guitarists like Mance Lipscomb and the Piedmont style bluesmen, go to http://www.allmusic.com and type in blues.
i would try to learn about the music by a free internet blues magazine called Blues Wax. From there, you can pick up some artist to try. Like most music, the genre of “blues” spans decades of progression and many different forms of the same music. blues/rock, hill country, chicogo, west coast, jump blues, etc. you just have to dig in and see what inspires you. it is the greatest, truest music there is. You might want to try Pandora, an internet radio station that you program yourself. you will hear alot of different artists there./
