We are doing an experiment on oxidation-reduction reactions. One of the reaction has to be between a metal and an acid. Which one would be a simple one to carry out with the substances usually available in the lab?

I have a large metal object caked in cement. How can I dissolve the cement off the object without damaging the metal? I believe it is iron, or a mix of iron with another metal. I need to remove quite a lot of cement from it.
When the Metal zinc is mixed with Sufuric acid why does no noticeable changes occur?
When Copper is mixed with Hydrocholoric acid, Nitric acid, and sulfuric acid out of all there none of the mixtures showed a noticeable change why is that?
