But first, an announcement: I am now a top contributor. Worship me.
But really, I bet it’s gone it forty-eight hours. I can’t commit to the badge.
Anyway, The Stones are bluesy, and so are The Allman Brothers, but AC/DC? Guns N’ Roses? I don’t see it. Any ideas?
MQ: How would you rank the worst album of your favorite band? Assuming you’ve heard it of course.
Oh my god, Yahoo suggested rock and pop. This has never happened to me before.

So my friends and I are writing a web show sitcom, and it’s scored entirely in jazz. our theme song is “Flight of the Foo Birds” (basie), and we need some other good upbeat “happy” tunes for the show. So if anyone has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot!

You’ve asked for blues groups or bands, so that’s what I’ll give you first… Many famous rock bands started as blues bands so try listening to some early works by these classic groups:
The Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds, Canned Heat, The Doors, Them, The Pretty Things, The Animals, Dr Feelgood, ZZ Top, AC/DC, Cream, Nine Below Zero, Paul Butterfield’s Blues Band, John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, Fleetwood Mac, Little Feat, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, Allman Brothers, Ten Years After, Grateful Dead. They were all heavily influenced by the blues and covered many blues artists on their early works.
More modern blues bands would include: Fabulous Thunderbirds, The Hoax, Gov’t Mule, The Black Keys, Back Door Slam, North Mississippi Allstars, Two Gallants, even The White Stripes.
As for classic blues must-haves, you will not do wrong with the classic blues of Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, Little Walter, Sonny Boy Williamson II, Jimmy Reed, Slim Harpo, Otis Rush, Buddy Guy, Magic Slim. Also Albert King, BB King, Freddie King and Albert Collins. For some soul blues try Ray Charles, Junior Walker and Bobby Blue Bland. For delta blues try Robert Johnson and Son House. The best modern blues artists are Robert Cray, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Joe Bonamassa, Derek Trucks and John Mayer. Modern traditional blues would include Eric Bibb, Alvin Youngblood Hart and Corey Harris.
I guess that will be enough for now! Enjoy!

Okay, so I just discovered ska and I really like it, but I know almost zero good bands. If anyone knows any good traditional, 2 tone, or third wave ska bands please tell me. Oh and also what are some good reggae and jazz bands, cause I also like those two genres, and I really dont know anything about those two so anything would be appreciated from info to good band names. Oh and if you have a favorite song with that band tell me.

Anyone know of any good metal/ grunge acts at the 02 Arena in Greenwich, London in the next few months?

I was wondering if you get to meet the bands that play after or before the show at the House of Blues in Chicago, Illinois. I am going to see Cobra Starship on October 15, and I would really like pictures with them, because I met them over the summer and got autographs, but never got a chance to get pictures. So does anyone know if you get to meet the bands?

I’ve been looking for a while now for rock groups (hell, even a single band) that is at it’s core a rock group but has funk influenced bass lines and jazz influenced drumming. I really have been interested in finding some genre that fuses hip-hop rock and jazz together but I’m having no luck so far. If you have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it!

I dont want to just listen to the easy to play jazz music, id like some bands that play very technical stuff, preferably without vocals. But either is fine.
