I’m doing an essay on this and I dont know where to get started. I’d appreciate if anyone just laid down the basics, suggested some pieces of music and/or composers, or helped out in any way.

I want to study classical religious choral music. I want books that cover polyphony(palestrina) to Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Schubert,etc.
Or an online station which plays classical/choral versions of rock or country songs, or just a radio station that plays random cover songs, of songs you never thought could sound so different.

I live Classical music and I have a serious liking and strong affection for Handel’s ‘Messiah’ and ‘Israel in Egypt’. Now I want to venture out to other religious choral pieces but I am a bit hesitant as I do not know if there are any other religious stuff out there which live up to these two. Could anyone suggest any piece or pieces which I could try and not regret.

I sing with a mixed choir, and I am on the music selection comittee. I am looking for suggestions of Christmas music that can be performed chorally. We sing a variety of music. SATB is good but if it is a good arrangement willing to try other voicings. Choir is about 35 voices.
