Todays modern blues integrates different jazz chords which helps the guitarist built solos around them. The old original blues was mostly 12 or 16-bar with the old i-iv-v progression.

I know they were both brought north from the Delta but I honestly cannot hear the difference. Can someone explain it to me, offer up some artists and/or sites to help me decipher the difference?

I was mainly hoping for the differences between symphony, concerto’s, minuet etc. the main types of classical music will do just fine as i know it will take a while to explain.
