Obviously sound is a huge part of the film industry, but how did people initially react and how did our society take it? How is the present media landscape related to or effected by the time when Al Jolson was first singing on screen?
I am writing an expository essay about the power of music on our emotions. I truly believe that all people are affected by music. I have researched how deaf people hear music and I think it is awesome. Through vibrations, you can “hear” the music. Although the articles were beneficial, I wanted to actually ask people that are deaf. What emotional affect has music had on you? I really appreciate your answers.
It’s been suggested with a few questions lately that because music is written for film or video games that it is not classical.
While I generally don’t think of film music and video game music as being classical, isn’t the choice of intended venue, purpose, and audience a weak justification for that position.
Do you think that’s a valid justification? why?
Try a thought experiment and ask yourself if these exact same pieces were presented in a concert hall as classical and you had no knowledge of what they were written for how would you react?
I am doing a science project on this topic – and whatever info or answers I get, help!! (So basically I’m just wondering what you think the effect of classical music is on the nervous system or what you do know about this. REMEMBER, your opinion helps…a lot!! -Thanks!
