We know that metal expands when heated, so what will happen if you cut a hole the size of a quarter in the center of a cookie sheet, then pop it in the oven until it’s very hot? Will a quarter still fit in the hole? Will the hole be bigger or small and why?
Thanks!

What is the relationship between a metal’s specific heat (heat capacity) and its ability to conduct heat or its ability to conduct electricity? What metals would be best suited for cooking utensils and why?

When 27 g of a metal at 84◦C is added to
53 g of water at 30◦C, the temperature of the
water rises to 37.1◦C. What is the specific
heat capacity of the metal? Assume no heat
ws lost to the surroundings.
Answer in units of
Jg /·◦ C

A 0.350 kg piece of metal at 1000C is dropped into a 0.100 kg aluminum cup containing 0.500 kg of water at 150C. The final temperature of the system is 400C. What is the specific heat of the metal, assuming no heat is exchanged with the surroundings? The specific heat of aluminum is 900 J/kgoC, and the specific heat of water is 4186 J/kg oC.

I have a a school science fair project, and my topic is “Which metal conducts heat best?”. I need to start on it, but I don’t know how to check which metals conduct heat in my own experiment with certain metals. Please give me instructions and directions.

We’re doing an experiment and it’s hard to derive the relationship between a metal’s density and its ability to conduct heat… Is there such a relationship or does the metal’s ability to conduct heat based solely on atomic structure?

I want to make a container to make a knife, but I need something to hold the hot liquid metal.
