I am looking to buy a 5 string bass for cheap. I am looking at the Squier Affinity Jazz Bass V. But I am hoping to get one with a high C string as apposed to a low B. Which does the Squier have?
I talked to the director, and he said I could be in jazz, just not the whole year. He said that in the competitions, they had limitations on the instrumentation. Which I don’t get or believe, since that pretty much defies the definition of jazz. The website for the MN State High School League says that “standard instrumentation is encouraged.” What does that mean?
My teacher put some powder on his hands for friction to rub a metal rod, and it made a high pitched sound. Can someone explain scientifically how he did it?

I’m only in 8th grade now, but music is my passion, and I really want to be a music teacher, middle school/junior high because that is where I believe I will feel most comfortable at. I know you need to get degrees in music and education, but is there anything else that is required?
I am joining the high school jazz band next year. I am sophomore going to be a senior.
I’m great at guitar. However, I don’t know any jazz band songs seeing as I mainly focus on playing metal.
I would like to broaden my playing ability and whatnot.
So what are some high school jazz band songs with guitar parts in
them?
Utah has a population of about 50% Mormon faith. The Jazz owner is Mormon (Larry H, Miller) and the Mormon world wide headquarters is about 4 blocks from the Jazz energy solutions arena. The government is mostly run by Mormon members (not mormon leaders)

I have to give a presentation to high school students on Praeludium and Allegro. I have to play and speak. I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on how to present this piece to people who don’t know anything about (and probably don’t like) classical music. I was thinking of comparing parts of the piece to other popular songs they know. Can you think of any songs that have comparable parts (specifically the cadenza)? Thanks!
