When I had to read them in school, I read the Cliff or Monarch notes instead of actually reading them. I want to read them now for pleasure & get an insight into their place in literary history & how they have influenced our culture & society as a result. The lists I’ve found are random and subjective instead of in order of significance and value to our society. I’m looking for a comprehensive list of the best classical books ever written. Any suggestions where I could find a list like this?
I would love a decent sized* list of classical music that have really cool rock versions like Trans-Siberian orchestra’s interpretation of “Carol of the Bells.”

The really old, big, chunky, 40GB, white ones that were all the rage a few years ago. Wonderful things, they were so heavy that if it didn’t work you could always just hit someone with it. And these wonderful machines were preloaded with quite alot of Classical music I haven’t been able to find since like “The charge of the light brigade” etc…
So does anyone person type know the classical track list?
