How Do You Save Music And Downloads From A Macbook On To A Sd Memory Card And Not On To The Hard Drive?

On windows if you have a sd card plugged in with music files on there, you can play the files without having them saved on the hard drive of the computer. Also, I don’t see an option for saving downloads and files directly to the sd card instead of the hard drive.
Does the macbook (new white edition) have these features?
