I never understood how metal and wires can hold information on a hard drive.. Can everything hold information?? How do the hard drives work??

Between the poles, on the wires, there are these ‘v’ shaped metal things with holes in them. What do they do? What purpose could they possible serve? I thought maybe they were for wind, but that would only catch wind, not change its direction. Maybe it’s so that helicopters can see the wires before flying into them. Maybe it’s just to make me wonder why they are there.
