Where Can I Go And Escape The Holiday Blues? How To I Transfer Music From My Computer To My Phone?
Nov 252009

I know this is an addition to those questions, but i’m curious what all of you think about people continually asking questions about “Yiruma” in the Classical section. It seems to me that there’s are an awful lot in this category.
In addition: What questions annoy you the most in this category? I’m just curious. I think I can guess that one of them would be “Where can I get this sheet music for free…” :p

    Most irritating:
having to know of or hear a clip of this New Age drivel in the first place.
    Next most irritating:
truly whiny and petulant retorts insisting this is classical music and it is profoundly deep and wonderful.
    Irritating but understandable:
Everything is a song, always has been to the unitiated, and now is being promoted as such by iPod downloads and the like.
    Irritating and barely conceivable:
All music played on a grand piano or which uses a conventional acoustic instrument is ‘classical,’
even after having been otherwise clearly informed.
    Irritating and inconceivable:
A generation with no concept of how anyone makes a living, perhaps and or including their parents. (free free free = gimme gimme gimme = cheap cheep cheap).

Sure, just when it starts to wind down, along comes “Music Man”
… At least questions about Yiruma relates to music, now we’re getting “right to die” questions.
So, here are my pet peeves:
    1. Which one is better/best … ?
    2. What are the notes to … ?
    3. Am I to old to … ?
    4. What should I play next … ?
    5. What is the difference between a keyboard and a piano?
    6. Is < $99 brand> a good quality ?
    7. What does mean?
    8. What are the piano TABs for ?
    9. Which _song_ … ?
    10. How much is my worth?
    11. What does mean? (darn, I just gave the answer)
    12. Classical is lame … ?
    14. Can you do my homework for me? (usually not asked, but demanded.)
    15. Where can I get the “sheets” to ?
    16 Any question
    17. Any questions with no pitches or note values (What is “de dum dummmm dum de de de dum”?)

  3. Joshua says:

There are a lot of questions here in this section that annoy me, such as:
People wanting their homework done for them…
People asking for free sheet music
People not placing their questions in the right category and then yelling at the classical contributors because their question is not answered.
People just can’t be stuffed to categorize their question properly.

  4. suhwahak says:

I cast my vote for the dum-dum notators.
My grievance against them is that they refuse to use any other notation, even after we tell them about the Musipedia Website.
I can say one thing for them, though:
We have grown more proficient in reading dum-dum notation thanks to them.
See if you can identify these three very well-known “classical songs”:
    1. dum dum dum dum [pause]
    dum dum dum dum [pause]
dum dum dum dummm dummm dum dum
    2. dum dum dum dummm dum dum dum dummm
3, dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dummm
    dum dum dum dummm
    dum dum dum dummm

  5. Leira says:

Uh.. I feel disgruntled. And tired of those ‘Yiruma’ questions
On questions which annoys me the most : something about electric guitar on classical section. (eurgh i felt like tearing my hair out!)
edit : i know. but it is nowhere in a classical section isn’t it?

  6. byrde94 says:

    I usually just ignore them
unless they are asking for free illegal downloads
when they quit asking for help stealing music,
I’ll quit reminding them that it is not legal

  7. John W says:

    In addition:
-”Who was the best classical composer of all time”… look up Wikipedia
-”Any other cool pieces such as Clair de Lune or Fur Elise”… n00bs
-any kind of remark implying that classical music is for “rich assholes” “drinking fine wine while listening to Bach”… idiots
Might post some more if I can think of any.
As for “free sheet music” – to be honest, I’m much more annoyed by all you folks picking on people with such questions, than the questions themselves.
As a frequent user of IMSLP and other sources for free scores, I feel personally offended by such comments each time :)
I mean, who am I supposed to “respect” here? The publishers making a living of… printing sheet music books (in case the compsoser’s dead)? Am I somehow disrespecting Penderecki’s work if I listen to it on Youtube? Am I morally wrong for copying a CD from a friend, instead of buying it… so the artists can “make a living” out of it??
Hey, wanna hear something really offensive? I got the sheet music for a Hamelin Etude… for free. It naturally wasn’t allowed at IMSLP, so I got it emailed from another youtube user… for FREE. Let’s forget that I paid 50 bucks for a concert by him two hours away from where I live… I obviously disrespect him because I have that pdf file in my PC.
I’m so tired of this nonsense, honestly. “Oh, I’d so like to go to this awesome concert, but see, I’m out of money as I just paid for a lot of sheet music books… which I all could’ve downloaded without paying a cent, but hey, the principle counts most”
    Edit:
Electric guitar is a serious instrument :)
Well, some cover classical stuff on e guitar, so I guess it’s not that far off.
By the way, a very easy one:
DdDdDdDdDdDd Dummmm da dum ___ da dummmm ___ da dum dumm dum
    :)
