Save Me the Last Waltz by Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald–F Scott’s wife who was the It girl of the decade and died in a mental hospital. She gave F Scott most of his fiction ideas, and some say she wrote large parts of his works. One of the best biographies I’ve ever read is Zelda by Nancy Mitford.
A Moveable Feast by Hemingway is a fictionalized memoir of his days among the expatriot artists in 1920s Paris.
The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas by Gertrude Stein
TS Eliot, Langston Hughes, William Carlos Williams were top poets of the time.
Sinclair Lewis, MAIN STREET, DODSWORTH, ELMER GANTRY, BABBITT. All set in the US midwest. First American to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature.
Edith Wharton was writing, although her novels are set a little earlier, she’s still amazing.
F. Scott Fitzergald’s nonfiction book The Crack Up describes his alcoholism and nervous breakdown and is really haunting.
