The first Intelligence to develop in a child is the Musical Intelligence. Music and movement helps children learn language skills, teaches co-operation, helps children develop attention span, teaches them to take turns, develops gross motor, and so much more. If anything, music is fun and is in each and every child. Children naturally love to move, so music is the perfect medium to assist the child in developing a love of music.

Dora the explore is a great example of music and movement. If you have ever watched her you’ll see that she takes both music and movement plus adds a different language to it too. So really the only difference I can see is music is to listen and in this sense the movement is to move to what you are hearing… They really do kind of go together…

Music and movement is putting words and motion together. Children learn coordination and language. It gives them timing and exercise. Plus it is fun. These are action classes not seat work or work sheets.
There is much more to this I am sure.

i guess preschoolers are the easy restless type, so music & movement class makes the class more interesting, some preschools i found at 88db uses music & movement to teach phonics, children are introduced to the letter sounds through music and movement…hope this helps

Music is, of course the learning of songs and melodies while movement is putting the actions to those songs and melodies. It is also a time for free dance which children love. There are also movement activities that do not involve music.
Singing enhances a child’s language skills like reading does. It enhances a child’s vocabulary and their understanding of the words as they are used in context.
It is different from other classes because there are no worksheets and no need to test their knowledge. It uses the right side of the brain where most other lessons use the left side of the brain.

In prescool there is no English or Maderian class. In prescho music can be a great wat to teach children language. For instance you can change the words to a song; the Itsy Bitsy Spider can be changed to; The Great Enormous Spider. Using a word like Enormous will expand a child vocabulary.
