You couldn’t galvanize or copper wash it, it would have to be sleeved with lead or copper and the dia. would need to be smaller then the barrel rifling much like an AP round.

The DU rounds that tanks fire are sabot rounds, and the DU rounds that the A-10 fires are tipped with DU, meaning that the DU doesn’t come in contact with the barrel of the weapon firing the DU.
