Yeah I agree it wouldn’t be original if someone told you about it.
Although I would suggest listening to different genres like Jazz or Reggae and then develop your sound from there. Don’t try to be different just for the sake of being one because you’ll sound fake and uninspired.
If you don’t believe me then listen to bands like the Clash who incorporated reggae, pop, and punk into their repertoire of songs and they sound awesome. Besides a lot of those bands that invented their own genre of metal were influenced by different kinds of musical artists that came before them so definitely take notice of the great music of the past.

Sorry, i think most ideas of starting a metal genre (in your case it sounds like fusion) falls now into what we call ‘Avant-Garde Metal’ (bands like Sigh, Arcturus, UneXpect). Unless you can come up with something crazier and more innovative than what there already is than you’ve got a challenge ahead of you. Also just because you founded a genre doesn’t always make you famous right away. Bands like Hellhammer and Thergothon broke-up before being famous.
