When the Metal zinc is mixed with Sufuric acid why does no noticeable changes occur?
When Copper is mixed with Hydrocholoric acid, Nitric acid, and sulfuric acid out of all there none of the mixtures showed a noticeable change why is that?
sulfuric acid is just a strong acid for the first dissociation thereby giving it just singly negative charge. zinc is 2+ cation therefore it cannot form strong ionic bond with HSO4- .
In case of copper not reacting with nitric acid, or HCl , is due to the lw activity of copper metal with respect to H , this is based on the activity series of metal ,
you may wish to review this. or try to find the series from other websites or books.
hope that helps.
have a nice day .
